Apple Announces new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by M6
Today, Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by M6, with enhanced connectivity, incredible performance in AI, and up to 24 hours of battery life.
On the surface, the new MacBook has the same design, ports, webcam, and speakers as the previous MacBook Pro, but it’s under the hood that matters. The new MacBook is powered by the M6 chip that Apple announced in August with the new Mac mini.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro features 3 Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with support for charging and DisplayPort, as well as a MagSafe 3 charging port, full-size HDMI, and an SDXC memory card slot. It features the same 12MP Center Stage camera and Liquid Retina XDR display with Nano-texture. The new MacBook will also feature Wi-fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, powered by Apple’s N1 chip found in the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros.
The M6 Chip is Apple’s First 2nm chip with a 12-core CPU, with up to 1.x faster multithreaded performance when compared to M5. It also features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine to help support on-device AI, and a 12-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator. Apple also claims it’s more power-efficient.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage; upgrading to 24GB of memory raises the price to $2,199, with 32GB costing $2,399. Storage starts at 1TB; upgrading to 2TB is an extra $500, while 4TB is an extra $1,500. Preorders start on October 28th, and shipping is expected to begin on November 6th. View as a Google Doc
