Why I pick Proton over Microsoft, Google & Apple - 2 Month Update

Odds are, you use Google, Microsoft Office, iCloud, or something similar. Sure, they all claim your data is safe—but let’s be real, it isn’t. Google, for instance, builds an ad profile on you based on the sites you visit, the ads you click, and basically everything in between. That’s exactly where Proton comes in.

Proton is a Swiss company (and yes, that part matters),completely focused on user privacy.

Your data is end-to-end encrypted, meaning not even Proton can see it. And because the company is based in Switzerland, it has to follow some of the strictest privacy laws in the world.

The obvious reason: privacy

I can literally ask Siri my birthday, full name, and address — and it just spits it out without hesitation. That’s scary.

Google, for example, lives off user data. Their entire business model is ads, and those ads come from your personal information. Proton doesn’t do that. No ads, no “sponsored emails,” no nothing. They don’t even ask for your birthday when you sign up.

Honestly? No — if we’re talking about features.

The Proton apps I use daily are Mail, Calendar, and 2FA.

The Mail and Calendar apps are my favorites. Proton Calendar is the first thing I open when I wake up. The Mail app is clean, and I love that with Mail Plus, I can connect a custom domain and actually use it.

If you want every possible feature, you’ll probably stick with Google, Apple, or Microsoft. But if you care more about privacy than convenience, Proton makes a lot of sense.
